Atmospheric River and Flood Update Dear Friends: The second of two atmospheric rivers continues to pummel Western Washington, and the King County Flood Control District and King County Road Services are available to provide help and information about current and expected. Significant flooding is currently occurring on several rivers within the county. The Flood Warning Center will remain operational, and Flood Patrols will be active throughout the week.. Visit the King County Flood Warning System to view gauge data, forecasts, maps, and peak flow events, or check the National Weather Service Flood Warnings. Please stay informed and safe. Road Closures in Unincorporated King County Due to the storm, multiple roads in unincorporated King County are closed due to water over the roadway, debris on the road, or slides. Please check www.kingcounty.gov.MyCommute for any status changes. This will be the most up-to-date information on Road Services closures. Road Services maintenance crews are working 24/7 during this storm to patrol our roads and respond to emergencies. To report road maintenance and safety issues in unincorporated King County such as down stop signs, signals that are out, and trees in the roadway, contact the 24/7 Road Helpline at 206-477-8100. King County Executive Girmay Zahilay has declared a Proclamation of Emergency in response to the severe storms and river flooding expected to significantly affect the region. This declaration follows the King County Office of Emergency Management's report on December 8, which confirmed the activation of the King County Regional Emergency Operations Center due to a substantial civil emergency caused by heavy rainfall, strong winds, anticipated river flooding, and heightened risks of landslides and debris flow in burn scar areas. City of Auburn As heavy rain continues and another strong round of storms is expected, water is already over parts of Green River Road on the King County side. With additional rainfall and increased releases from Howard Hanson Dam, river levels may continue to rise and could impact low-lying properties along this stretch of the river through Friday. For more information or assistance: City of Algona Mayor Troy Linnell has declared a state of emergency in the City of Algona in response to recent and forthcoming weather events that have resulted in flooding. Should your home be affected by flooding, please call 911 immediately to access available resources. The Public Works and Emergency Management teams are diligently working to address the rising water levels. Sandbags will be distributed to Algona residents from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM each evening this week at the Public Works shop, located at 217 Washington Blvd. Please refrain from driving through deep standing water.
