On Monday, November 10, crews will repair the sewer pipe on M Street Northeast, between 14th and 16th Streets Northeast. We will reline the existing pipes using cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) technology. We chose the CIPP method because it allows us to reline the sewer pipe without excavating the road.
We ask that residents living on M Street Northeast, between 14th and 16th Streets Northeast, as well as on the side street of 16th Street up to I Street Northeast, limit their water usage during this work. This will help the construction crew connect the residents’ sewer lines with the M Street Trunk sewer pipe.
It is important that residents reduce water use to allow the sewer lining to harden. During this work, please avoid doing laundry, running your dishwasher, or engaging in any other tasks that require high water usage. You will be able to flush your toilet and use your sinks.
See the map on the back for more details. We have also created an interactive construction map, which you can find by visiting: kingcounty.gov/MStreetTrunkRehab. This map will show active construction updates for Zones 18, 24, and part of Zone 30 during 2025.
-
Please limit water usage from 7 am on Monday, November 10, to 7 am on Tuesday, November 11.

The King County Wastewater Treatment Division is repairing approximately 2.6 miles of old concrete sewer pipe, ranging in size from 18 to 36 inches wide, in Auburn. We will also fix 45 maintenance holes and over 100 side sewer connections to homes and businesses. Rehabilitating the M Street Trunk will help preserve aging infrastructure and ensure the reliability of our regional wastewater system.
In September through the fall of 2025, crews will repair Zones 18, 24, and some parts of Zone 30 on M Street Northeast, starting from the intersection on 14th Street Northeast to near 22nd Street Northeast. In summer 2026, crews will finish construction on the remaining part of Zone 30 and all of Zone 36.
Construction is disruptive. King County’s goal is to complete construction efficiently to minimize disruptions to the community.
