The contractor working on the Heathfield Force Main Rehabilitation Project has safely excavated all the known affected soil, which will be sent to an appropriate disposal facility. Crews will backfill the excavated area with clean soil as part of the capital project.
Yesterday, our construction team met with the contractor at the project site to make sure the project can safely move forward.
Out of an abundance of caution, the King County Environmental Lab will collect additional water samples from the same locations along Vasa (Squibbs) Creek, both upstream and downstream of the excavation site.
We continue to coordinate with Public Health – Seattle & King County, which will use the water sampling results from Oct. 20 through 22 to evaluate any potential public health impacts and provide safety guidance. We will share any updates as they become available.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not approach workers onsite. This is for your safety and the safety of the crew. Instead, call the Community Services team at (206) 263-4088 and leave a message or email HeathfieldPumpRepair@kingcounty.gov. We will get back to you as soon as possible.
