Sammamish Plateau Diversion Project update

King County’s Sammamish Plateau Diversion Project team is continuing to conduct research as we look at options for new wastewater infrastructure in the east Lake Sammamish area. You may have seen crews earlier this summer as they surveyed the right-of-way (ROW) in the east Lake Sammamish area and just north of the lake in Redmond. This work helps us better understand the area and informs project options.

We anticipate more ROW survey work to happen in the east Lake Sammamish area this fall. As soon as work is scheduled, we will share more information. For the latest details and updates, please visit the project website and subscribe to project updates via text or email.

Ready… set… RAIN!

Are you ready for rainy season?

Fall is approaching, and we have some tips to help you prepare for the rainy season. Consider the following steps to keep you and your home dry and safe this season:

  • Inspect your home: Check for cracks or damage in your foundation and walls to prevent water leakage.
  • Maintain gutters: Clean out and repair your gutters so they function properly and direct rainfall away from your home.
  • Secure landscaping: Keep your yard waste away from streets and gutters to prevent it from clogging the stormwater systems.
  • Stay informed: Keep up with local weather updates, follow safety guidelines, and stock up on essential supplies when necessary
  • Be prepared: September is National Preparedness Month—a perfect time to sign up for King County’s emergency alerts. The Emergency Management team is here to keep everyone in King County safe and in the know—no matter where you live, work, or wander.

New sewer cleaning truck extends life of King County pipes

Our Conveyance Inspection team recently added a sewer cleaning truck to their roster! This powerful truck uses filtered wastewater to blast away sediment, wipes (don’t flush them!), oils and grease (don’t put it down the drain!), and vacuums up the mess — all without interrupting service or needing to bypass flows.

Taking care of more than 380 miles of King County-owned sewer pipes extends the lifespan of aging infrastructure and keeps debris from costly damages to pumps and equipment downstream.
