We previously shared that the project work hours were expected to be from 9am - 3pm, then later updated that to 7am - 3pm. After clarifying the permitted work hours with the City of Bellevue and our contractor, the final expected work hours are:
- 7am - 5pm on weekdays, with work in the roadway limited to 9am - 3pm
- All traffic impacts will be limited to 9am-3pm
- The contractor will follow all noise and work hour limits as per City of Bellevue permits
Construction staging is expected to start as early as September 15. Full construction mobilization will start the week of September 22. Work is expected to take 6-10 weeks to complete. We need to finish repairs before the rainy season because this pipe carries rain as well as wastewater during winter storms.
Construction will take place next to the eastbound travel lane on SE 35th PL.

|
- Construction activities to repair the pipe will include:
- Excavating a trench
- Removing the existing pipe
- Replacing the pipe in the same location
- Backfilling the trench and restoring the work area
- Repaving the roadway once construction is complete
- Neighbors may experience increased noise and vibration, typical of a construction site
-
Staging of construction equipment and vehicles will take place at the Heathfield Pump Station and in the right-of-way
- Crews plan to work along the right-of-way on SE 35th PL
- Crews will close the eastbound travel lane to provide a safe work area
- Flaggers will direct alternating traffic through the open lane for drivers. The road will not be fully closed.

King County contractors will repair about 140 feet of sewer pipe along SE 35th Place in Bellevue. The 24-inch-wide pipe broke while performing regular maintenance at the Heathfield Pump Station in August 2024 and has been out of service. King County completed temporary repairs last year. Since then, we have assessed its condition and will now complete a permanent repair.
