King County’s WaterWorks Grant Program has $4.6 million in funding available for community-driven projects that protect water quality, control pollution, and build healthy communities. Projects must provide an improvement to water quality within the Wastewater Treatment Division service area. Non-profits, Tribes, cities, schools, and special purpose districts are eligible to apply.
This is the grant cycle for the 2025/26/27 competitive track. This application process begins by filling out a short Letter of Intent form through the online grant portal.
The Letter of Intent form is due on September 30, 2025. Selected applicants will be invited to submit full proposals in February 2026.

Information Sessions & Office Hours
The WaterWorks grant team is hosting three free public information sessions for potential applicants. Each session will cover the same material: an overview of grant criteria, the application process, examples of past projects, and an opportunity to ask questions. Two of the sessions will be held online, and one will be in-person at King Street Center in Seattle. A recording of the first online session, excluding the Q&A portion, will be available online in early September.
Advance registration is required to attend. Use the links below to reserve your spot!

Council-allocated track proposals
If you applied through the 2025 Council-allocated track in July 2025, decisions for funding will be made in fall 2025. Your proposal will automatically be considered for funding for the 25/26/27 Competitive track grant cycle if you are not selected for funding or receive partial funding through the council track. You may submit a proposal for a different project through the 2 different tracks.
