Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Today, King County Executive Shannon Braddock issued a Proclamation of Emergency regarding the recent closure of the White River Bridge on State Route 410. This comes in response to a bridge strike on Monday, Aug. 18, which caused extensive damage to the structure.
While SR 410 is a State Highway under the control of the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT), this order will allow King County to help mitigate the impacts of the bridge closure. Specifically, this emergency order will allow the county to waive procurement requirements and authorize overtime for King County employees responding to the emergency. Additionally, the order authorizes 24-hour operations for the Foothills Trail Pedestrian Bridge for emergency vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists. The King County Parks Department will also be installing lighting and signage on the Foothills Trail Bridge.
I applaud the Executive for working diligently with state, local, and county leadership to issue this emergency proclamation and address the needs of our community. You can read the full text of the proclamation here: Emergency Proclamation re SR 410 Bridge_08 23 25.pdf.
I will remain in consistent communication with WSDOT and continue to share updates with you as soon as possible. I encourage you to also look for updates using WSDOT’s real-time travel map. Additionally, information is available in the WSDOT mobile app and by signing up for WSDOT's email updates.
All my best,
Reagan Dunn King County Councilmember District 9
