Allow us to reintroduce ourselves
We're the Science Section, a team of environmental scientists in King County's Water and Land Resources Division (WLRD), part of King County's Department of Natural Resources and Parks (DNRP). Our researchers are exploring some of today’s most pressing environmental questions, and what they discover can lead to cleaner water and healthier habitats- for animals and people- across our region and beyond.
You might have heard that we're...
But we're also testing new ways to find contaminants in streams, tracking down pollution sources, keeping lake visitors safe from bacteria and toxic algae, and lots more.
These juvenile Chinook salmon were the focus of a recent study on the Snoqualmie River. Neon tags in their fins helped our researchers track their growth over time.
What you can expect
Each month on our blog, we'll post stories that dig into new findings, celebrate community partnerships, highlight tools of the trade and cool local animals, and introduce you to the people behind the science.
Then every few months, we'll send you this quarterly update with recent stories, job posts, and community events related to our work. We'll also ask for your ideas, feedback, and questions through quick surveys and email.
