King County convenes about 50 active boards and commissions, bringing volunteers from across the County together to provide their advice and expertise to the King County Executive and Council on policies and programs that affect residents. There are currently several open positions for District 6 residents. If you have been looking for an opportunity to make a difference in your local government, this is your chance!
Citizens' Election Oversight Committee
The CEOC is a 16-member committee of volunteers who have interest or expertise in elections. They produce an annual report to the King County Council on their observations, findings, and recommendations on election-related matters. Currently, the CEOC has the following open positions:
- Representative of registered King County voters: three-year term, ending September 2028
- Representative from the Spanish-speaking community: three-year term, ending July 2028
- Representative from the Vietnamese-speaking community: the remainder of a three-year term, to expire December 2026. The Council may appoint the successful candidate for an additional three-year term
The application deadline is August 13, 2025.
Conservation Futures Advisory Committee
The Conservation Futures Advisory Committee recommends grant funding to help local governments and nonprofits purchase parks and open spaces throughout King County. Applicants must live in King County Council District 1, 2, 3, 6, or 8. Immigrant and Refugee Commission
The Immigrant and Refugee Commission was founded to connect with, hear from, and support county residents from immigrant and refugee communities facing the issues and challenges of today. Commissioners serve on a volunteer basis and work together to identify, elevate, and develop shared strategies and solutions to address the most pressing issues affecting their communities.
WaterWorks Grant Ranking Committee
The WaterWorks Grant Ranking Committee reviews, ranks, and recommends funding for water quality improvement projects in the service area for King County’s regional wastewater system. The committee provides increased objectivity, transparency, and resident input to the review and selection process. In June 2025, the King County Flood Control District launched the Lake Sammamish Dock and Shoreline Grants Program, a pilot program that will distribute $1 million grant funding to single-family homeowners along the Lake Sammamish shoreline to reduce flood damage to shoreline infrastructure, while providing shoreline erosion control and salmon habitat improvements. Eligible recipients are invited to apply by August 15.

King County Emergency Management is developing a Community Wildfire Protection Plan to help reduce the risk of destructive wildfire and help our whole community become more resilient to wildfires. We need your input! If you live, work, or play anywhere in King County, we’d like to hear from you.
