Pipe relining work on 97th Avenue Southeast and Southeast 34th Street intersection beginning as early as August 4 |
|
Expect alternating single lane traffic with flaggers |
|
|
Starting as early as August 4, crews will begin pipe relining work at the intersection of 97th Avenue Southeast and Southeast 34th Street.
During work hours, there will be alternating single lane traffic directed by flaggers around the work area. The intersection will reopen to two-way traffic outside of work hours. This work is expected to take up to a week to complete.
Driveway access and parking advisory
Crews may temporarily place the new pipe liner on 97th Ave SE, north of the intersection, for about four hours on either August 4 or August 5, depending on schedule. During this time, residents living near the work area on 97th Ave SE may experience temporary driveway access restrictions as crews install the new pipe liner into the existing pipe.
If you plan to leave your home during permitted work hours (7 a.m. to 7 p.m.) on August 4 or 5, please plan to park on neighboring streets outside of the work
area.
|
|
"No parking" signs will be positioned north of the intersection where the liner will be placed on the roadway before work begins. Crews will alert residents whose driveway access will be limited on 97th Ave SE. If you have access concerns, please contact the Community Services team at 425-305-3578 or NMEsewer@kingcounty.gov.

Crews will access the pipe at 97th Ave SE and SE 34th St. During work hours, flaggers will direct single lane traffic around the site. The new pipe liner will be temporarily placed on the roadway between Fruitland Landing and the intersection for up to four hours as it’s installed.

Remaining work after relining
After relining work is complete, the work area will be backfilled in preparation for final paving and restoration. Final paving is weather dependent and will be scheduled during the permitted paving window, which runs through mid-October.
The temporary above-ground bypass pipes and driveway access ramps located north of the intersection will remain in place while the newly relined pipe is tested. Pipe testing and the inspection process is expected to take approximately two months.
Upgrading Lift Station 11 at Fruitland Landing
Crews will continue working to complete the remaining work at the lift station in Fruitland Landing through the fall, including restoration activities. The park will reopen when all the remaining work is complete. We will send a notice with more information and update the project website once final restoration and paving has been scheduled.
