Your Weekly Update on What's Happening at the King County Council

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

There’s nothing quite like the King County Fair — it brings out the very best of our agricultural heritage and community spirit! I was thrilled to have the chance to open the Fair yesterday along with Muckleshoot Tribal leaders, Executive Braddock, Mayors and Councilmembers, and Mayor Jan Molinaro of Enumclaw.

At the opening ceremony, I had the privilege of awarding Oklahoma, the Hampshire/Suffolk Cross Lamb owned by Scarlett Cockerham, the prestigious title of “King Critter”. I also got to meet a few honorable mentions: Rue, the Nigerian Dwarf Goat owned by Sydney Ball, and Honey Bun, a Sicilian Buttercup Chicken owned by Vivian Cockerham.

While the Critter Crowning marks the opening of the King County Fair, which runs from July 17-20 this year, there is much more to come! The Fair hours are 10 AM – 10 PM on Thursday, July 17 – Saturday, July 19, and 10 AM – 6 PM on Sunday, July 20—the Fair’s final day.

The King County Fair is the oldest fair west of the Mississippi. It is a long-standing event held at the Enumclaw Expo Center, featuring numerous attractions, including 4-H & FFA exhibits, carnival rides, pig races, kid tractor pulls, chainsaw carving, free musical entertainment, shopping vendors, and a variety of food vendors. The fair is known for its family-friendly atmosphere and a wide range of activities that appeal to all ages.

If you're planning to visit, it's recommended to check the fair's schedule for specific event times and ticket information, which can be purchased in advance online or at the gate.  Admission includes all shows and concerts. Military, family, and senior discounts are offered, and new this year—parking is FREE!

Admission for adults ages 13 and up is $15, $10 for kids ages 5-12, and free for kids ages five and under.

All my best,
