On Wednesday, nearly 250 people—including elected officials, tribal representatives, treatment providers, and members of the recovery community—attended our 2025 King County Substance Use Recovery Conference. I was honored to share the stage with State Rep. Chris Stearns, Judge Dave Larson, and Carlton Buren of Muckleshoot Behavioral Health for a discussion of how local governments, nonprofits, and courts can work together to help folks recover.
Thank you to Public Health—Seattle and King County, DCHS, the King County Recovery Coalition, the Muckleshoot Tribe, and Green River College for helping my office organize this event. As the number of people dying from overdose sadly begins to again trend upward again after a drop last year, it’s critical that we stay focused on our goal of building a community and treatment network that supports people along their recovery journey. Together, we can!

SE 472nd St in unincorporated Enumclaw to be closed July 11 through September 5
Failing culvert under SE 472nd St
King County will replace a narrow, worn-out metal pipe culvert with a much larger and wider concrete box culvert under SE 472nd Street. The improvements will stabilize the road and make it easier for fish to pass under SE 472nd Street and continue their migration to and from the White River.
Construction on this project will begin July 11 and concluding by September 5. The limited work area requires the county to close both directions of SE 472nd Street between 261st Ave SE and 268th Ave SE for up to eight straight weeks to install the culvert underneath the road.
There will be no through access whatsoever when the road is closed, and alternate routes will be available for all travelers.
