The King County Council and Executive Shannon Braddock issue a proclamation celebrating Juneteenth in King County
I am proud to join the Council in recognizing the 160th anniversary of Juneteenth, a profound symbol of freedom and resilience. Together we honor our past and celebrate our progress as we all work toward forming a more perfect union.
Beginning as early as this weekend, the Red Cedar Trailhead will close for three years as King County’s contractor begins preparing the site for active construction of the Coal Creek Sewer Upgrade Project. No traffic impacts are expected from early work, but the public should expect for traffic impacts on Coal Creek Parkway SE later this summer.
While the Red Cedar Trailhead is closed for construction, other trailheads in the area are available for trail users to access the Coal Creek Natural Area. Trail users will be detoured around the Red Cedar Trailhead work area via the Forest Drive Trailhead. Parking is available at the Cider Mine, Red Town, and Newcastle YMCA trailheads. Limited parking is available at the Forest Drive Trailhead and SE 60th St Trailhead.
