King County launches new Park Ranger program to increase safety at our parks
King County Councilmember Reagan Dunn at Maplewood Park
I’m pleased to share that King County Park Rangers are now patrolling parks across King County!
In recent years, crimes such as car break-ins and vandalism have been on the rise at county parks. In response, I've advocated for improved security at trailheads and King County Parks conducted extensive community outreach on how to improve the visitor experience, leading to the launch of the new Park Ranger program.
I’m thrilled that the Rangers are in place in time for the summer hiking season! This is an important step toward keeping our playgrounds, trails, and other public spaces accessible to families and to all visitors.

The King County Auditor’s Office is looking for input from the public as it plans its work for the next two years. To gather that input, they have launched a new website where community members can suggest agencies and activities that should be audited. The public can also offer specific suggestions on how to improve.
The King County Auditor’s Office conducts oversight of county government through independent audits, capital projects oversight, and other studies. Every other year, the Auditor assembles a work program for approval by the King County Council.
Members of the public now have until July 1, 2025 to offer their ideas and feedback. All submissions will be considered for inclusion in the next work plan.
