Councilmember Reagan Dunn visits the mural with members of the Maple Valley Creative Arts Council, the Maple Valley Historical Society, and Maple Valley Councilmember Syd Dawson
Maple Valley artist Ashley Ashbeck knocked it out of the park with this beautiful mural at the Maple Valley Historical Society. Thank you to the Maple Valley Creative Arts Council for organizing the artist call!
Any organization interested in seeking funding for a community-building project in unincorporated areas should keep an eye on Alan Painter Grants through King County’s Department of Local Services. Applications for the next round of funding will open this fall!
To check out the stunning mural, pay a visit to the Maple Valley Historical Society located within Lake Wilderness Park!

I’m proud that King County's Coal Creek Sewer Upgrade project was recently awarded Salmon-Safe certification for meeting high standards for salmon protection. This essential project not only increases wastewater capacity for the communities of Bellevue and Newcastle, but moves the active pipeline away from Coal Creek, offering better protection for the salmon-bearing creek and surrounding environment.
I was pleased to tour the site with former Bellevue Councilmember Jennifer Robertson and Monica Van der Vieren from King County’s Wastewater Treatment Division during its beginning stages. Though this project has been many years in the making, construction starts this year! Learn more about it here.
