The King County Council approved a measure for the August 2025 ballot to renew the levy for another six years starting January 1, 2026. The main themes for the 2026-2031 King County Parks Levy are: MAINTAIN, ENHANCE, GROW & CONNECT.

New Marymoor Light Rail Station and Trails opening May 10!
King County Parks is opening two new trails in Redmond that will connect Sound Transit’s Marymoor Village Station to two regional trails and King County’s largest park, making it safer and more convenient to enjoy healthy outdoor recreation, activities, and events. Join us for an opening celebration at the station and in the park on May 10!
The new Marymoor Station Trail offers a direct path from the light rail station to the north end of King County’s Marymoor Park while the new Bear Creek Trail Bridge connects the nearby East Lake Sammamish Trail to the Redmond Central Connector Trail.

Archaeology in the Park Programs Start May 17
What's the history of King County's parks? How long have people been using the land and in what ways?
Join Parks archaeologist Brandy at an Archaeology in the Park event to hear stories about our region’s past and get a chance to see, touch, and learn about local artifacts. The first program kicks off at South County Ballfields in Auburn on May 17, 11:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

King County Aquatics Center Hosts NCAA D1 Swimming/Diving Championship
The Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center (WKCAC) recently hosted the NCAA Women’s and Men’s Division 1 Swimming & Diving Championships, where hundreds of fans from across the country watched the very best student athletes compete.

Trailhead Direct Season Starts May 24
Trailhead Direct will return for the 2025 season from May 24 – September 1! With bus routes going to the Issaquah Alps and Mt. Si, this is a fun and low-impact way to take public transit to nature. Stay tuned for more information by visiting trailheaddirect.org as we approach the start of the season.

The City of Seattle recently unveiled Cheryl Chow Park serving the high-density neighborhoods of Columbia City and Mt. Baker in the northern Rainier Valley.
King County Parks helped support this exciting project with a $500,000 grant funded by the Parks Levy
