On Friday March 14, my staff and I toured parks in District 5 which have received county investments including Sunset Park in SeaTac, the Lake to Sound Trail, Cedar River Trail, Interurban Trail and Soos Creek Trail. Thank you, Parks Director Warren Jimenez, DNRP Deputy Director Mo McBroom, and Capital Projects Supervisor Jason Rich for the tour.
The King County Parks system provides access to 175 miles of regional trails, 215 backcountry trails and 28,000 acres of parkland composing 205 parks. All to serve 2.3 million residents of King County.

On Monday, we met with the flood control district director regarding levee improvements in Tukwila. I also met with Sound Transit staff and Board Member and Auburn Mayor Nancy Backus regarding South King County priorities. I also tuned into the King County Economic Forecast Council about what the economy in King County is projected to be like in 2025 and 2026-27.

On Tuesday, I chaired the Transportation, Economy and Environment Committee (TREE) committee where we heard a report from Metro General Manager Michelle Allison. You can see the meeting here.
In honor of Transit Appreciation Week, my team waved signs on Third Avenue over the lunch hour to thank bus drivers for their work.

At full council, King County Executive Dow Constantine joined me to present a proclamation honoring Transit workers.
On Wednesday, the Local Services and Land Use Committee approved an agreement with the City of Shoreline to purchase Transfer of Development Rights (TDR) which will both incentivize Transit Oriented Development and protect farmland and conservation areas. The committee also heard a report on the condition of King County Roads.

I also visited Metro Transit’s Eastbase to say thank you to transit workers who make Eastbase run well every day.
Finally, I participated in the Regional Transit Committee which heard a briefing on Metro Transit’s collection and use of data to make system improvements. Much of this data is regularly collected from riders and residents like you!
Participants in the Transit Safety Task Force were asked
to sign a pledge committing to finding solutions to make transit safer.
On Thursday, we received a state legislative update. My team then participated in the first Transit Security Task Force meeting with over 80 representatives from cities, public safety leaders, community representatives, and ATU 587 operators committed to improving security on Metro Transit.
