Duwamish Alive! Celebrating Earth Day
Join Duwamish Alive! in restoring vital habitat along the Green-Duwamish River for the juvenile salmon that are coming down the river this spring. We will be restoring habitat at multiple locations throughout the watershed: on and along the river, its upland forests and creeks, we are all connected and all are invited - both volunteers and visitors. Learn about the tribal ancestral history of many of these sites. If you are interested in experiencing the river from a different perspective, the river kayak cleanup is very popular so spots go quickly. Instruction, tools and snacks are provided for restoration activities. This is a family friendly event, all ages welcome!
- Saturday, April 19, 2025 from 10 AM-2 PM. Visit the website for more information and volunteer registration.

Culvert Replacements in Federal Way
The City of Federal Way has 2 culvert replacement projects underway for 2025. The first, at Redondo Creek, involves the replacement of an existing culvert. The current culvert does not have enough capacity to handle high levels of water flow. The project will replace the failed culvert with one that is fish-passable. The second, at Cold Creek, includes a sequence of projects to reduce upstream erosion, install downstream grade controls, reduce flooding, improve water quality, and remove fish passage barriers. These projects are part of the City of Federal Way’s Stormwater Capital Improvement Plan, focused on reducing flooding and protecting natural resources.
