Thank you for your interest in the King County Comprehensive Plan. On December 5, 2024, the King County Executive transmitted to the King County Council the proposed 2025 update to the 2024 King County Comprehensive Plan. Proposed Ordinance 2024-00408 would make policy and development regulation changes related to critical areas.
Council Review Process
The legislation has been referred to the Local Services and Land Use Committee for review over the next several months for potential amendment and recommendation, with final adoption by the full Council anticipated in September 2025. Information on how to participate in Committee meetings is available on the Committee website.
Information about the Council’s review of the proposal, including the schedule for Council’s review, can be found on the 2025 Comprehensive Plan website. This website will be periodically updated as new information and materials become available. News, schedule updates, public comment opportunities, meeting materials, and public notices related to the 2025 Comprehensive Plan update will also be distributed to this email list throughout the process.
Committee Briefing: February 19
The Local Services and Land Use Committee has invited Executive staff to come present on the Executive’s proposed critical area policy and regulation changes, on Wednesday, February 19th beginning at 9:30 a.m. The meeting will be in a hybrid format; public comment will be accepted submitted in writing, in person in the Council Chambers on the 10th Floor of the King County Courthouse, at 516 3rd Ave, Seattle, WA, or through the Zoom webinar. Public Comment
Written comments on the proposed plan are welcome at any time during the Council’s review. Comments can be submitted electronically by emailing CouncilCompPlan@kingcounty.gov. The Council looks forward to your involvement in the review of the proposed 2025 Comprehensive Plan update.
