Thank you for subscribing to email updates about river and floodplain projects and programs along Issaquah Creek. We are happy to announce the launch of the Issaquah Creek Capital Investment Strategy project!
Why is this project happening: In 2020, major flooding along Issaquah Creek caused significant damage to nearby homes and public infrastructure. In response, the King County Flood Control District, together with King County as service provider, is developing a capital investment strategy for Issaquah Creek and two of its tributaries where flood facilities are located. The Issaquah Creek Capital Investment Strategy (CIS) will be a plan for how future investments will be made in projects and programs that reduce flood risk in the Issaquah Creek Basin while meeting other community needs where feasible, such as improving habitat for fish and wildlife and supporting recreation.

About the project: The CIS will focus on the 100-year floodplain of Issaquah Creek, specifically targeting the 41 river facilities (levees and revetments) managed by King County. The CIS will be developed through a robust engagement process that aims to understand the specific needs and values of communities living, working, and utilizing Issaquah Creek.
Next steps: There will be multiple opportunities for sharing input as the Issaquah Creek CIS is being developed. Opportunities include public meetings, comment periods, focus groups, online engagement hubs, and direct engagement with CIS project team staff at community events such as festivals, farmers markets, and holiday fairs. Public engagement opportunities will be posted on the project webpage (link below) and are expected to begin in early 2025.
