Residential treatment program opens its doors |

A new residential treatment center providing mental health and substance use care opened last month in Skyway. King County partnered with Pioneer Human Services to open the facility, which will help over 300 people each year. Treatment works and recovery is possible when people get the care they need.

RapidRide service coming to University District |

We kicked off construction earlier this month on the RapidRide J Line from the University District to downtown Seattle. The project will upgrade Metro’s Route 70 and includes 308 improved crosswalks and curb ramps, 15,130 ft of repaired sidewalks, 3.7 miles of protected bike lanes and 190 newly planted trees.

Just keep swimming: 12,000 salmon released |

Last week we celebrated a record release of over 12,000 young kokanee salmon into Lake Sammamish. A big thank you to our incredible partners in this ongoing effort to help bring these native fish back from the brink of extinction.

New Guardian One helicopter takes to the skies |

King County has a new addition to its Air Support Unit: a Bell 407GXi helicopter known as Guardian One that allows the Sheriff’s Office to respond to emergencies within 20 minutes. It will support search and rescue, wildfire response and law enforcement patrol, including locating stolen vehicles and robbery suspects.
