Dear Community,
Greetings and happy fall! The leaves are changing and so is OLEO! Read on to learn more about the updates and growth coming to our office.
New Community-Guided Policy Work
OLEO’s Policy and Community Engagement teams have started work to implement OLEO’s new Community Guidance Framework for Policy Reviews. Using this framework, OLEO will partner with community-based organizations to collaborate on policy projects and ensure that diverse community voices are represented in the recommendations that OLEO presents to the King County Sheriff’s Office.
This is a process open to all, and we are especially interested in organizations that further the interests of populations that have been historically marginalized or overpoliced. If your community organization is interested in partnering with OLEO on a future policy project, you can fill out this simple form and we will be in touch.

Community Engagement Summer 2024
Our Community Engagement team joined several community events and festivals this summer to spread the word about our office and the work of police oversight.
We are always on the lookout for more opportunities to share our office’s vision and mission with members of the community, so we welcome your ideas on how to provide further outreach to the public. Please direct your inquiries and suggestions to Simrit Hans, OLEO’s Community Engagement Specialist.
