Your Weekly Update on What's Happening at the King County Council

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I was glad to join many local officials and community members—including King County Deputy Executive Shannon Braddock, Pierce County Councilmember Dave Morrell, Enumclaw Councilmember Anthony Wright, former Mayor of Buckley Pat Johnson, and Rails to Trails Board President Dan Bucci—in celebrating the opening of the new Foothills Trail Bridge!

Foothills Trail Bridge

This new bridge now links segments of the Foothills Trail across the King-Pierce County border, connecting 22 miles of uninterrupted paved trail. I'm very pleased that Enumclaw Plateau residents will now enjoy more biking and walking opportunities along the Foothills Trail, as well as another mode of access to business and other amenities in Enumclaw, Buckley, South Prairie, Orting, and Puyallup. In addition, the bridge will allow the Foothills Trail to be utilized as an alternative route by first responders to transport people to St. Elizabeth Hospital in the case that the traffic bridge over the White River becomes unusable.

Many years in the making, this project is a great example of what we can achieve when we work together!

All my best,
