King County Metro’s Rail Division seeks an experienced and highly capable individual to become the next Rail Technical Trainer.

King County Metro’s Rail Division has an exciting Career Service (CS) opportunity for someone excited about training and development. As a member of our Rail Technical Trainer team, you will train the light rail workforce in King County. Rail Technical Trainers play a critical role in onboarding, training, and developing Rail employees and in supporting Rail’s Culture of Care and Operational Excellence strategic priorities.
The Technical Training team is responsible for the development, implementation, and facilitation of training courses for a variety of trades and job classifications at Link Light Rail. Trainers typically focus on one or more of the following areas, including but not limited to:
Operations
Vehicle Maintenance
Track & ROW Maintenance
Power
Signals
SCADA
Facilities Maintenance
Business and Administration
Onboarding and General Training
About King County Metro Transit's Rail Division
King County Metro is the exclusive partner and operations and maintenance provider to Sound Transit's Link Light Rail system. Light Rail is the backbone of Puget Sound's mobility future. With fast, frequent, reliable connections, the system is poised for significant expansion during this decade.
As Light Rail continues to grow, it will influence and inform Metro's investments of resources well into the future. To strategically and effectively manage such a significant, accelerated rate of growth, the Division Director's Office has established the following strategic priorities to address what matters most:

- Ensure safe, high-quality operations for employees and customers
- Strengthen partnerships with Sound Transit (Link) & Seattle Dept of Transportation (Streetcar)
Who May Apply
We are hiring for one (1) Career Service vacancy at Link Light Rail. This recruitment is open to internal and external applicants and may be used to establish an eligibility pool to fill future Career Service and/or temporary vacancies which may occur over the next twelve (12) months, at the discretion of the hiring authority.

The work schedule is generally an 8-hour shift and may require non-standard hours such as swing or graveyard. Schedules are assigned based on the needs of the department. This position is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not overtime eligible.
