Your Weekly Update on What's Happening at the King County Council  

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

This week, I paid a visit to the Covington City Council to present on the State of King County. I appreciate the chance to connect with Covington councilmembers and community members as I shared updates on some of the top issues in King County today, including public safety, King County’s response to the fentanyl crisis, the King County budget, and investments we’ve made in the Covington community.

Dunn swears in David Scalabrini to fill King County Fire Protection District No. 37 vacancy

The King County Council recently appointed David Scalabrini to fill a vacant seat on the King County Fire Protection District No. 37 Commission. I was honored to swear Commissioner Scalabrini in earlier this week!

David brings to this position a strong commitment to bettering his community. I am grateful for his willingness to serve as Commissioner and thank him for stepping up to fill the roll.

Sept. 26: Open House for Greater Cedar River/Maple Valley Subarea Plan

King County is creating a subarea plan to help guide development and investments for the next 20 years. Planners will work with members of the community to develop a vision and include policies to help achieve that vision. The goal is to make improvements in quality of life for everyone who lives, works, and plays in this area.

The plan will cover the rural area that lies east of Renton and Kent and north of Covington, Maple Valley, and Black Diamond. Plan topics include land use and zoning; housing and human services; environment; parks, open space, and cultural resources; transportation; -services and utilities; and economic development.
