Link light rail flat fares and PugetPasses
Starting August 30, Sound Transit Link light rail will move to a flat fare of $3.00 per trip, regardless of journey length. Riders should continue to tap on at a card reader before entering the station platform but will no longer have to tap off at the end of a trip. This coincides with the opening of Sound Transit’s Link 1 Line’s extension to Lynnwood. ORCA LIFT and senior/disabled fares will remain $1 flat fares. Youth age 18 and under will continue to ride free.
What does this mean for PugetPass holders? Link light rail riders who purchase monthly PugetPasses on their Adult ORCA card will need to purchase the $3.00 PugetPass for September to cover the new fare unless transferring to or from a transit service that charges a higher fare. In addition, riders may need to load E-purse funds to their card to cover any fare difference between their August PugetPass and the new $3.00 fare for trips taken August 30 and 31.
 Community Transit fare changes
Starting September 1, Community Transit Adult fares for Bus, Zip, and DART Paratransit will be $2.50, and the $4.25 commuter fare will be eliminated. This change does not affect the reduced fares that are available to people with disabilities, people with lower incomes and seniors, or the free fares available to youth 18 and older, and to people on certain government programs. Community Transit is updating their service on September 14, increasing local bus service to connect to light rail stations and transit centers. Express buses to Northgate and downtown Seattle will be discontinued. Instead, riders can easily take the bus to light rail stations and connect to Sound Transit’s Link 1 Line to get to Northgate, downtown Seattle and beyond. With this shift from Community Transit commuter services to Sound Transit’s Link 1 Line, fares will change from $4.25 to $3.00 per trip. ORCA Business Choice customers may purchase the $3.00 PugetPass for September to cover the new Link fare unless transferring to or from a transit service that charges a higher fare. October 1 will also mark the day that fares on Kitsap Fast Ferries will increase for the first time since the service launched in 2017. Westbound fares will increase from $10.00 to $12.00, though Eastbound fares will remain unchanged at $2.00. Additionally, the combination Kitsap Transit Bus and Fast Ferry pass will be eliminated.
Current PugetPass holders who transfer between Kitsap Transit's services and other ORCA agency services may consider loading a lower-value PugetPass and use it in conjunction with Kitsap Transit's Fast Ferry monthly pass.
