King County is updating its Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan and needs your input! This plan assesses natural and human-caused hazards that can impact our region and develops strategies to reduce risk and build resilience.

The Cities of Maple Valley, Black Diamond and Covington are hosting a mini recycling collection event on Saturday, August 10 from 9:00 a.m. to noon at Tahoma High School. This recycling event will cover paint, electronics, computer equipment, TVs and paper shredding.

Newcastle Beach closed due to high bacteria
Newcastle Beach Park's swim area is closed until further notice due to high bacteria count. Although the Newcastle Beach Park swimming area is closed, the park itself is still open. Signs are posted around the swimming areas indicating the areas are closed.

Doors Open grants
Doors Open Facilities grants and Doors Open Sustained Support grants are now available to King County arts, heritage, preservation, and science and technology nonprofit organizations.
Doors Open Facilities grants provide funding for building, remodeling, and buying specialized space that houses and facilitates cultural work in King County.
Doors Open Sustained Support grants provide one-year unrestricted funding to meet non-profit organizations' day-to-day needs.

VSHSL Short-Term Engagement Projects
This program awards small grants for community-building events and activities that increase social engagement and connection for seniors and members of resilient communities in King County.
