It’s already August, but that doesn’t mean summer fun is over! Eastside cities have got you covered for exciting opportunities to get outside and enjoy the sunshine and your community.
On Saturday, August 17, from 12:30 to 4:30 PM at Crossroads Park, the City of Bellevue is holding the first Bellevue International Festival. This celebration of Bellevue’s diverse cultures will feature family-friendly activities and performances, including food trucks, a fire engine tour, kindergarten registration, face painting and a school supplies giveaway.
On Fridays from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, the City of Kirkland is bringing the Rec-n-Roll van to neighborhood parks, including Peter Kirk Park on August 2, Houghton Beach Park on August 9, and Juanita Beach Park on August 16. Enjoy yard games, group games and competitions, arts and crafts, and more. No registration required for this free program and lunch is provided while supplies last.
The City of Redmond is hosting their free summer concert series, Rockin’ on the River, at 5:30 PM on Wednesday, August 14 and Wednesday, August 21 on the Great Lawn between the Redmond Senior & Community Center and City Hall. Come for an evening of music, food, and dancing with great local performers!
Tuesday, August 6 is the Primary Election. Make your voice is heard by mailing your ballot back (no postage necessary, but it must be postmarked by Election Day) or dropping it in a drop box by 8:00 PM on Election Day
If your ballot hasn’t arrived, you can call 206-296-VOTE (8683) to request a replacement ballot. If you aren’t registered but are eligible to vote, you can still register at a vote center location up until 8:00pm on Election Day. If you need assistance to vote, visit a vote center. And don’t forget to track your ballot through King County Elections’ ballot tracker to ensure your vote is counted!
The King County Council’s summer recess begins next week, so this newsletter will take a brief hiatus and return once the Council reconvenes. I hope the rest of your summer is safe and fun!
