Turbidity curtain installation for shoreline restoration as early as July 30
Crews will begin restoring the shoreline under the I-90 bridge at Enatai Beach Park. This includes installing logs and distributing special gravel that will improve fish habitat.
As part of restoration work, crews will install a turbidity curtain in the water near the shoreline. The turbidity curtain contains sediment while allowing water to go through. Where the turbidity curtain is in use, there may be discoloration of the water from sediment being contained. Once the curtain is installed, our project will perform water quality testing. The water is tested regularly to meet permit and state requirements. In addition to water quality testing, the project will continue to monitor impacts to aquatic life.
The turbidity curtain is expected to be in place for approximately six weeks. This work will not affect navigable passages through the East Channel.
In water pipe testing as early as August 5
To test the pipe that was installed in the water this past year, crews will run a dye through the pipe. This green dye will be visible in the water. This dye is an industry standard dye, and it is used to find and fix potential leaks in other Pacific Northwest waterways. The dye is biodegradable and safe for fish and wildlife. Divers and crews will be present on the shorelines, in the water, and on the I-90 bridge to monitor the in-water pipe testing. This work is expected to last up to two days.
