Mercer Slough connector trail and Sweyolocken Boat Launch now open!
Expect continued construction activities in the area
|
|
The Mercer Slough connector trail and Sweyolocken Boat Launch reopened for community use on May 1. The trail connects the I-90 trail with the Mercer Slough and the South Bellevue Park and Ride. Since 2022, King County Wastewater Treatment Division’s contractor has been working in the area to install the new Enatai Siphon and diversion structure. The Enatai Siphon is a pipe that connects Enatai Beach Park and the Sweyolocken Pump Station. |

What’s coming up next this in this area:
Paving road to boat launch:
After crews finish work near the Sweyolocken Pump Station, they will start paving the road to the boat launch. Paving is planned to occur this summer and expected to last one week. Trail users should expect intermittent closures and flaggers guiding them to a detour route as paving progresses along the road. For at least one day during paving, access to the Sweyolocken parking area and boat launch will be closed. Later this year crews plan to begin landscape restoration in the area. We will update the project website when we have additional details.
Installing new bollards on the trail:
While crews are in the area doing paving, they will also install new bollards on the trail near the road to the boat launch. This work is expected to last one day. Trail users can expect intermittent closures and flaggers directing them around the work area. Please travel slowly around the work area and follow instructions from signs and flaggers.
Fixing the pipeline along the Mercer Slough:
Later this year crews will upgrade an existing pipe in the Mercer Slough. Crews will reline the pipe, inserting a new lining inside the existing pipe. This will increase the pipe’s life span for many decades to come. As part of this work, there may be intermittent closures along the trail. We will share more details as we get closer to this work.
Keeping you updated:
