Because fireworks can scare pets into running away, more furry friends go missing around July 4 than any other time of the year. Regional Animal Services of King County (RASKC) has some helpful tips for keeping your beloved pets safe over the coming days, including:
- Keep your pet indoors, even if they usually stay outside
- Make sure your pet is licensed and has an ID tag or microchip
- Consider consulting your veterinarian to see if your pet may benefit from medication to keep them calm
- Don’t assume you pet won’t react even if they haven’t in the past
