Gasket repair work as early as July 8 on 78th Ave Southeast and Southeast 24th St
Expect single-lane traffic with flaggers for one week

Crews doing repairs after initial testing
Starting as early as Monday, July 8, crews in two separate work areas on 78th Ave Southeast. and S.E. 24th St will begin saw-cutting to remove asphalt and excavate the roadway to fix part of the pipe.
Once this initial repair on the pipe is complete, crews will backfill the excavated area, and pave it back with temporary asphalt.
In the weeks following the repair, crews will test the pipe and conduct any remaining work that might need to be done. Permanent paving and restoration to existing conditions in the area will happen later this year. We will notify the community in advance of additional work and paving.

During this work there will be single-lane traffic on 78th Ave S.E., near the S.E. 22nd Pl intersection, and on S.E. 24th St, near the 80th Ave S.E. intersection. Flaggers and signage will direct traffic through the area. Please use caution when driving through the work area and follow all signage and directions from the crew. Single-lane traffic will only be in place during the approved work hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The roadway will be reopened on nights and weekends. This work is expected to take one week to complete.
Please move slowly through the area and pay attention to all signage and flaggers.

What to expect

Approved work hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Saturday.
- Flaggers will direct single-lane, alternating traffic through the work areas.
- Roads will be restored to two-way traffic after work hours.
- Noise, dust, and vibrations typical of an active construction project.
- Emergency vehicle access will be maintained.
- Garbage, recycling, composting, mail, and delivery service will be maintained.
