With the dry season fast approaching, King County Fire Marshal Eric Urban has issued a Stage 1 Burn Ban for the unincorporated areas, which prohibits yard debris fires along with fires set to clear land. It took effect Saturday, June 29.
The ban, issued in conjunction with the King County Fire Chiefs Association and King County Fire Marshals Association, does not apply to recreational fires and gas/propane appliances, including grills, pellet smokers and charcoal grills.

King Conservation District Regional Food System Grant Program
This grant program supports the following Local Food Initiative goals:
- Better connect local farms to consumers.
- Increase access to healthy affordable foods in underserved areas.
- Support farmers and protect farmland.
- Create a sustainable farm-to-plate pipeline more resilient to the effects of climate change.

VSHSL Resilient Communities Reentry Spanning Services Funding
The Veterans, Seniors, and Human Services Levy (VSHSL) team seeks to support one or more entities to provide services that support reentry of formerly incarcerated persons in King County including, but not limited to, interim housing and systems navigation, family support services, employment resources, flexible financial assistance, and access to culturally responsive healing practices. There is approximately $1.9 million in funding available.

Healthy and Safe Environments RFP
This funding opportunity will support work on healthy and safe environments in four investment areas: (1) Healthy food and food access; (2) Physical activity; (3) Unhealthy substances and dangerous products; and (4) Safe and health-promoting environments. VSHSL Senior Villages Funding
The Veterans, Seniors, and Human Services Levy (VSHSL) team seeks to fund the ongoing development and operations of geographically based or culturally affiliated Senior Villages, or organizations like Senior Villages, to support diverse and low-income Seniors to age well in their communities of choice and remain stably housed. There is approximately $2.3 million in funding available.
