Summer has arrived!
The Lake Hills and NW Lake Sammamish Sewer Upgrade Project team has officially started another season of community engagement activities!
We kicked off summer outreach by hosting a booth along the Sammamish River Trail to celebrate Bike Everywhere Day on May 17. Our team enjoyed meeting members of the community to share information about our project and answer questions from trail users.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth to learn more!
If you didn’t attend Bike Everywhere Day, we hope to see you in the coming months. Our team is attending several events this summer, including:

Designing large sewer upgrades take time... Construction now expected to begin in 2026
King County continues to update the design of the sewer upgrade project to meet permitting requirements from the City of Redmond, the City of Bellevue, and several state and federal agencies. Coordination with our partner agencies is necessary to make sure we install the new pipe in the safest way possible, limit impacts, and maximize improvements for people and the environment.
Due to a delay in the design and permitting processes, we anticipate construction will begin in 2026. Thank you for your patience while we work hard to finalize our sewer design.
In 2024, the project team will continue to:
We expect construction of the 4.5-mile-long project will take about three years. The entire sewer will not be under construction at once. Once we hire a contractor, we will share more detailed information about when the contractor expects to build each part of the sewer. Thank you for your continued patience.
About the project
King County is working on a project to upgrade 4.5 miles of sewer pipe. King County will build the new pipe in trails, roads, and parks in Redmond. Due to a delay in the design and permitting process, we expect construction to begin in 2026. When complete, the new pipe will provide sewer service for 50 years or more.
