Updated dates for maintenance hole investigation on 96th Ave S.E.
Starting as early as June 10, crews will be working in a maintenance hole on 96th Avenue Southeast near the intersection with Southeast 35th Street. Flaggers will be on site to direct traffic through the work area. This work is expected to take one week.

Pipe installation continues on 97th Ave S.E.
Crews began installing pipe on 97th Ave S.E. earlier this week. This new pipe will connect to the existing pipe that is being relined on the north end of 97th Ave. S.E. and the pipe being installed on the south end of 97th Ave. S.E.
Flaggers will direct single lane traffic through work areas on 96th Ave S.E. and 97th Ave S.E.
What to expect
- All work will be performed in the public right-of-way.
- Approved work hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday
- Work outside these hours will be done as approved by the City of Mercer Island.
- Flaggers will direct single-lane, alternating traffic through the work areas.
- Some homes on 97th Ave S.E. may be subject to temporary driveway access interruptions.
- Access to residences should always be maintained during construction. Crews will lay metal plates over excavations to restore access as needed. It may take crews up to 15 minutes to set up a safe surface for you to cross.
- If you have questions about access, please call the 24-hour hotline at 425-305-3578. We will speak with on-site staff and resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
- Emergency vehicle access will be maintained.
- Roads will be restored to two-way traffic after work hours.
- Fruitland Landing closed to the public during construction for approximately four months.
- Noise, dust, and vibrations typical of an active construction project.
