2024/2025 King County Community Health Needs Assessment Published

Public Health – Seattle & King County recently published the 2024/2025 King County Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA), jointly produced with the King County Hospitals for a Healthier Community Collaborative. You can read the full report and key findings, including materials translated into Spanish and Chinese, at kingcounty.gov/chna.

You can also learn more in our blog post "How Healthy is King County?" detailing key findings from the CHNA. Key highlights include:

  • Promising Health Trends: Rates of daily vegetable consumption have increased among Black, Hispanic, lower-income, and South King County communities. Additionally, adult cigarette smoking and youth substance use, including marijuana and e-cigarettes, have significantly declined.
  • Opportunities for Improvement: Life expectancy in King County is at its lowest in 9 years, with Native Hawaiians/Pacific Islanders and American Indian/Alaska Natives experiencing a life expectancy over ten years lower than the county average
  • Impact of COVID-19: Since the onset of the pandemic, depression among students has risen, with a notable increase in suicide ideation among Black youth.
