We are recruiting for an Assisted Outpatient Treatment (AOT) Peer Support Specialist, Social Services Specialist. This position is in the Behavioral Health and Recovery Division (BHRD) of DCHS. This position will work within the Involuntary Treatment Act (ITA) Court system of King County, supporting people who are engaged or enrolled in King County’s AOT program. The Peer Support Specialist will develop supportive relationships with the program participants, support their recovery goals, and connect them with formal and informal support. The Peer Support Specialist functions as a role model through sharing their own lived experience with behavioral health issues in a way that will inspire hope for recovery and resiliency. The incumbent will provide trauma-informed, strengths-based services and supports. This work will often occur in locations such as jails, hospitals, court and in community.
The person selected for this role will be required to pass a Washington State Criminal History background check with ongoing checks performed by King County Department of Adult and Juvenile Detention. The selected candidate will also be required to complete a defensive driving course once hired.
This recruitment is to fill a Term-Limited Temporary (TLT) position that is anticipated to be 18 months in duration. If filled by a King County employee who has passed their initial probation, the TLT will be as a Special Duty Assignment (SDA)
