Alpha Hill Project Construction Update

King County WTD Brightwater Treatment Plant Notice

May 2024

Alpha Hill project construction update:

Work expected to begin this summer

In last month’s Brightwater email, we let you know that the construction for the Alpha Hill erosion control project was planned to begin in May. We now expect to begin construction this summer. We will provide an update once a date is scheduled.

Starting construction in the summer is due in part because the project requires dry ground to complete. Contractor and supply availability, as well as permit approvals from various agencies, can also delay project work.

Alpha Hill itself is closed for restoration. Informal paths on the steep hillside can send dirt into Little Bear Creek, a home to endangered salmon. This can harm water quality. Please stay on designated trails in the Brightwater trails area to protect the surrounding landscape.

Yellow caution tape blocks access to informal trails on Alpha Hill. The area is closed for restoration. Please stay on designated trails.

Alpha Hill is closed to public access due to erosion. Please stay on open trails to protect the landscape.
