Metro Weekend Update - POTUS visit impacts; Mariner games; More DART service trips; and more;
King County, Washington sent this bulletin at 05/10/2024 07:01 PM PDT
Remember, “It’s a great day to ride Metro” to get to events and activities where there is often traffic congestion and limited parking.
Weekend Service Impacts
Prepare for delays due to POTUS' visit.
Routes 7, 12, 70, 101, 150, 212, 218, 257, 302, 303, 311, 322, ST 545, ST 550, and ST 554 are rerouting due to current road closures, until further notice;
South Lake Union Streetcar service will not operate from Friday, May 10 at 12 noon to Saturday, May 11 at 3 p.m.;
Route 20 will be rerouted off of the North Seattle College campus on Friday, May 10 from 5 p.m. to end of service, due to construction;
Routes 10, 11 and 49 will be rerouted during the closure of Pine Street between 4th Avenue and 2nd Avenue daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., on Saturday, May 11 and Sunday, May 12;
Routes 150, 165, and 183 will be rerouted in both directions off of a portion of W James Street in Kent from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 11 during the Khalsa Day Parade;
Routes 230, 239 and ST 522 will be affected during the UW Bothell Husky 5K; Stop #76305 UW Bothell & Cascadia College (Eastbound) will not be served on Saturday, May 11, from 8 a.m. to 12 noon;
Route 255, 271, ST 542, and ST 545 will be rerouted in both directions during the SR 520 bridge closure from Friday, May 10 at 11 p.m. through Sunday, May 12;
Take transit to all your sporting events in Seattle. Metro and Link light rail serves riders heading to T-Mobile Park, Husky Stadium, Lumen Field, and Climate Pledge Arena;
The Seattle Mariners will have games at 6:40 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and at 1:10 p.m. on Sunday at T-Mobile Park;
The summer sailing schedule began April 15 and will run through October 11. Find the summer sailing schedule on the Water Taxi's Captain's Blog;
Seattle Center Monorailwill be open until midnight on Friday, May 10, and operate normal hours the rest of this weekend. The Monorail will depart approximately every 10 minutes;
Riders can use Text for Departures by texting their stop number to 62550 to get next departure times;

Starting May 13: Metro restoring bus trips in Auburn, Enumclaw, Federal Way, Mercer Island, Renton and Tukwila
Riders will have more frequent bus options on weekdays as King County Metro restores 79 trips across six routes starting May 13.
These routes are part of Metro’s DART (Dial-A-Ride) service, which offers both a set schedule and a flexible service area when a rider reserves in advance. Delivered by Metro partner Hopelink, DART vehicles feature bicycle racks and wheelchair lifts.

Applications close on Sunday for Metro’s Student Transit Champions undergraduate internship. Interns will play a pivotal role in event staffing and marketing initiatives for Metro Flex, Water Taxi, and Free Youth Transit Pass in summer 2024.
When: July 8 to August 30
Who: Undergraduate students (including current high school seniors who will enroll in an undergraduate program this fall)
Shane Rich is coming aboard as the new Port Captain for Metro’s Marine Division

Shane Rich has served as a captain on wooden ships and modern vessels. Shane has served as a Captain and manager at both Argosy Cruises and Kitsap Transit, with a focus on training, team building, and operational efficiency. She’s now ready to join Metro as the Port Captain of our Marine Division. The Port Captain is the person responsible for the daily operation of the King County Water Taxi and its service to West Seattle and Vashon.
“I’ve had the pleasure of working in partnership with the King County Marine Division in my previous roles in the maritime industry and have enjoyed seeing the Water Taxi service thrive and expand,” Rich said. “I am excited to be joining this team and eager to contribute and be a part of the department’s success and growth.”
