Thank you to the leadership and staff from Seattle Opera who joined us for this proclamation!
I was proud to lead the King County Council in declaring May 11 as Seattle Opera Day in honor of Seattle Opera’s 60th Anniversary. For the last six decades, Seattle Opera has brought our community together, delighting long-time fans and converting new ones, bringing to life classic operas and innovating unique ways to share the joy of opera to people across King County. I look forward to 60 more years of their continued artistic excellence and efforts to ensure everyone has the opportunity to delight in everything opera has to offer!
On Saturday, May 11, join the City of Redmond for a two-hour walk in the Education Hill neighborhood to discuss safety concerns for pedestrians, cyclists, transit users, and other road users. This walk is part of the City’s Safety Action Plan and Community Road Safety Assessment, which will create tools to strengthen Redmond’s approach to roadway safety and prevent serious harm. You can help identify issues and shape solutions to make Redmond’s roads safer for everyone. Registration is required and high school community service hours are eligible.
The King County Citizens’ Election Oversight Committee (CEOC) plays a vital role in making our elections free, fair, and transparent. Made up of 16 members representing a diverse array of perspectives, they make recommendations to the King County Council on how to improve the performance, accountability, and transparency of our Elections Department.
They currently have openings for members from the Vietnamese-speaking community, the Chinese-speaking community, the King County Democratic Party, and the King County Republican Party. If you represent any of these communities, you can apply by Friday, May 31 (any candidate for the King County Democratic or Republican positions must be designated by their party, so contact the party directly for consideration). Don’t miss the chance to be a part of this important work!
