If this sounds of interest to you, Public Health – Seattle & King County (PHSKC) is seeking an innovative public health professional to lead the Department’s Climate & Health Equity Program. The Climate & Health Equity Program Manager (Project/Program Manager IV) position has broad responsibility to establish PHSKC’s strategic direction on climate and health while ensuring alignment with overall King County priorities. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in developing and implementing strategies to promote climate resilience and advance health equity in the face of a changing climate. The Program Manager will lead an interdisciplinary team with skills in climate adaptation, communication, data systems, and community partnerships. The Program Manager will focus on leveraging resources and increasing efficiency of activities by establishing and maintaining meaningful collaborations with a diverse set of partners, including but not limited to the King County Executive Climate Office, state health and environmental agencies, other local public health jurisdictions, academia, and community organizations.
The Climate & Health Equity Program Manager reports to the Assistant Director of Environmental Health Services and lead an interdisciplinary team with skills in climate adaptation, communication, data systems, and community partnerships. Collectively, the team leads the inclusion and integration of climate justice and health equity strategies into PHSKC programs and participates on an interdepartmental King County Climate Staff team.

ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH SERVICES DIVISION:
Through the work of over 165 dedicated employees, the Environmental Health Services Division promotes healthy and equitable environmental conditions and prevents disease through sanitation, safe food, air, and water (drinking, surface, and recreational), and reduction of exposure to hazardous materials. In addition to permitting and inspecting public pools, spas, pet businesses, plumbing installations, on-site septic systems, and solid waste facilities, the Division also works in partnership with community to address unhealthy environmental conditions and leads the Department’s climate change efforts.

Work Schedule
This position has a regular schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with occasional evening and weekend work required.
Work Location
This position is hybrid with a combination of home-based telework and onsite work at the Chinook Building located at 401 Fifth Ave. Seattle, WA 98104.
Teleworking:
Some of the work associated with this position will be performed through teleworking, and will report to office location and to meetings as needed. Travel to other work locations may be necessary. Employees will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop and must maintain a workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours. To support employees during this time King County has a robust collection of tools and resources to support working remotely. The individual selected for this opportunity will be joining an innovative and progressive team.
