Additional COVID-19 Dose Recommended for Everyone Ages 65+
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently recommended everyone ages 65 and older get an additional dose of this season’s COVID-19 vaccine. The additional dose will provide increased protection against serious illness and long-term complications, like long COVID. Doses should be separated by at least 4 months. It’s safe to get the additional COVID-19 dose at the same time as flu, RSV, and other vaccines. Vaccination is the best way to protect your residents and caregivers from COVID-19-related illness.
Why should my residents and caregivers get the COVID-19 vaccine this spring?
We are currently seeing a high number of COVID-19 outbreaks in King County long-term care facilities. Help keep your residents and staff healthy by scheduling on-site vaccinations at no cost.
In summary, it’s time to schedule COVID-19 vaccinations for:
• Anyone ages 65 and older who has not received a COVID-19 vaccine in the past 4 months. • All adults and children ages 6 months and older who last received a COVID-19 vaccine before September 2023.
