Your Weekly Update on What's Happening at the King County Council  

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

This week, I continued my tour of city councils across District 9! I am grateful to the Renton City Council for welcoming me as I presented the State of the County. I enjoyed the chance to meet with city leaders and discuss the issues that matter to the Renton community.

It's important to me to maintain an open line of communication with local leaders and to make sure the county and cities are collaborating to serve our shared constituencies to the best of our abilities. I look forward to visiting many more city councils in the near future!

King County announces 5 new priorities in addressing fentanyl crisis

I recently stood with King County Executive Dow Constantine, Councilmember Girmay Zahilay, and Councilmember Teresa Mosqueda to announce 5 new priorities for fighting fentanyl.

Since I first led the King County Council in declaring fentanyl a public health crisis in 2021, the problem has only greatly worsened. Tragically, fentanyl kills 3 people a day here in King County. It will take a collaborative, whole-of-government approach to reverse this surge in overdose deaths and protect future generations. I thank Executive Constantine for the opportunity to partner on fighting fentanyl in our communities.

Do you need help filing your taxes? Visit the King County Library System website for a list of resources to help you this tax season.

In addition to in-person help at local libraries, there is also virtual assistance available through United Way and AARP.

Veteran Outreach & Resource Programs RFP

The Veteran Outreach & Resource Programs Request for Proposals (RFP) seeks to allocate VSHSL funds to qualified agencies to provide outreach and resources to King County veterans, military servicemembers, and their respective families who will benefit from connection to and provision of community resources. Proposals are due March 20, 2024 by 2:00 PM.
