Each Spring, the Maple Valley Police, Covington Police, and King County Sheriff's Department offer a Community Police Academy. The departments have collaborated and designed a program to increase the understanding between community members and their police department through education. Their goal is for graduates to attain a better understanding of the law enforcement role in the criminal justice system and an appreciation for the many challenges facing law enforcement in today's complex society.
The Academy is held on Thursday evenings from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m., starting in March at the Lake Wilderness Lodge in Maple Valley. There is no cost for this great experience. You can learn more at the City of Maple Valley website.
Applicants must be 18 years old, live in King County and have no prior felony convictions. All applicants must pass a criminal history background check.
