Registered Nurse - Juvenile (Full-Time)

02/28/2024 12:32 PM PST

This position is open until filled. Applications received on or before March 13, 2024 will receive first priority.

Department of Adult and Juvenile Detention (DAJD) is accepting applications for Registered Nurses who have an interest working with our community's youth in a detention setting.

Working in a detention setting is a highly specialized field within nursing that involves caring for the medical needs of juveniles. Nurses operate their practice within the detention centers and perform many of the same tasks as nursing professionals who work in traditional medical settings. They strive to provide compassionate and competent health care to the vulnerable populations of the county through assessing, diagnosing, and treating a variety of medical conditions. Detention nurses have more autonomy than other nursing specialties since the work environment consists of a compact staff and accessibility to fewer resources.

This position may be assigned Charge Nurse duties.
