King County Metro Transit’s Facilities division has an exciting opportunity for a Transit Utility Laborer. Transit Utility Laborers perform a wide variety of tasks and semi-skilled work throughout the King County Metro Transit service area. Primary areas of work include bus shelter cleaning, landscape/grounds maintenance, and semi-skilled assistance for the skilled trades.

This recruitment will immediately fill one (1) fully-benefitted Term-Limited Temporary (TLT)/Special Duty Assignment (SDA) position, with an anticipated duration of 12 months. This recruitment may also be used to create an eligibility list to fill future Career Service vacancies, as well as fully-benefitted Term-Limited Temporary and/or Special Duty Assignments vacancies, in this classification. Eligibility lists remain valid for 12 months upon creation, or until the list is exhausted, at the discretion of the hiring authority.


Interviews and testing are anticipated to occur from March 19 through March 21, 2024, but dates are subject to change.

Please note: Vacancies in the Utility Laborer classification will first be filled by qualified Transit Facilities Division employees with a lower pay grade that gives consideration to suitable skillset, work history, then offered by seniority.


WAGE INFORMATION

Qualified candidates typically start at the mid-point of the established pay range, depending on candidate qualifications. The top step of the pay range is achieved within three (3) years or less through automatic step progression, depending on initial step placement at time of hire.


The pay range for day shift is $27.29 to $38.99 per hour. The mid-point salary step is currently $35.09 per hour for day shift.


Shift differential applies if assigned a swing/afternoon or overnight/graveyard shift. Shift differential for swing shift is 5% in addition to day shift wages; shift differential for overnight shift is 7.5% in addition to day shift wages.
