We have several grant opportunities that are available now and wanted to share them with you. Investing in our local non-profit organizations and supporting innovative ideas through funding is critical to help ensure that each of our communities are able to thrive, now and into the future! The deadline for these grants is in February or March, so make sure you apply soon. Featured Grant Opportunities
We are excited to share that our 2024 Council Grant Applications are now open! As we continue to meet with our local organizations, we recognize there are many needs that often go unfulfilled. We want to ensure you have access to funding opportunities through our office! There are five grants that are open, and details are below. District 3 Van Grant
Any public agency or non-profit organization in King County District 3 is eligible to apply to receive one van. They must agree to use the van to transport people with specific needs (seniors, low-income, youth or people with disabilities) OR to transport goods and supplies to people in need. The van provided will be a 7-passenger minivan (2014 Dodge Grand Caravan SE), with an average mileage of 48,020 miles and average value of $10,000. Grant disbursement may begin during the summer and must be completed by the end of August. Van Grant Applications are due by Thursday, March 14th at 11:59 PM PST. Apply Now!
Councilmanic Grants
There are 4 separate categories that organizations can apply for. You may apply for more than one, but this must be done on separate applications. Please make such to differentiate between the applications and requested needs:

Community Service Grants: Can be awarded to any non-profit or local government to help further community needs, including but not limited to food banks and pantries. We have a total of $25,000 to award in 2024 and a minimum of $2,500.

Veterans Service Organization Grants: Can be awarded to any veterans’ services organization for any reason. We have a total of $15,000 to award in 2024, with a minimum award of $2,500.

Housing Stability Grants: Can be awarded to city or county-level government agencies, unincorporated areas, tribes, or community-based organizations that support local housing stability. We have a total of $60,000 to award in 2024, with a minimum award of $5,000 each.

Get Active, Stay Active: Can be awarded to organizations who provide youth and amateur sports and fitness programs, or organizations who support programs for senior residents. Funding can be used for program implementation costs, such as coaching or space rentals, camp and program fee scholarships, athletic and fitness equipment, or capital projects. We have a total of $100,000 to award in 2024 and there is a minimum of $5,000.

The following grant opportunities are listed in order of application due date, with the soonest deadline listed first. Any applications that have rolling deadlines are located towards the bottom of the list.
1. WRIA 8 Funding for Salmon Conservation
Applications are due at various timelines below. Apply now at this link.
Details: The WRIA 8 Salmon Recovery Council (SRC) annually seeks grant proposals for salmon habitat restoration and protection projects, salmon-focused outreach and education programs, and priority monitoring and assessment activities occurring within the WRIA 8 watershed boundaries. Upcoming grant opportunities include:

Salmon Recovery Funding Board (SRFB): The SRFB program primarily funds habitat restoration and protection projects, including project design, as well as riparian focused projects. There is a total of over $1 million in funding available. Applications are due Friday, February 23rd.

King County Flood Control District (FCD) Cooperative Watershed Management (CWM) Grant: This program supports priority salmon recovery activities within King County watersheds and includes habitat restoration and acquisition projects (including riparian projects), monitoring and assessment activities, and education and outreach programs. There is a total of $4.1 million in funding available. Applications are due Wednesday, March 20th.

2. RFA: Capital Improvements of Behavioral Health Treatment Facilities
Applications are due Tuesday, February 27th by 2 PM. Apply now at this link.
Details: The purpose of this RFA is to support organizations to make necessary capital improvements, repairs, renovations, and/or expansions in behavioral health treatment facilities located in King County. The goal of these improvements is to improve access to and availability of behavioral health services by assisting with costs associated with building repairs, renovations and/or expansion of existing behavioral health provider facilities. There is a total of $5 million to be allocated in 2024.

3. Rural Tourism Marketing and Production Grants

Details: Rural Tourism Marketing and Production Grants will help destination communities create promotional assets to support marketing goals. Tourism stakeholders may request up to $50,000 in grant funding for content creation that includes but is not limited to photos, video, and written content.

4. Streamflow Restoration Grants
Applications are due Thursday, February 29th. Apply now at this link.
Details: This grant is a biennial grant cycle with up to $40 million available focused improving stream flows, such as, altered water management, water right acquisition, water storage, feasibility studies, and floodplain, riparian, and wetland restoration.

5. 2024 Healthy Communities and Parks Funds

Details: The Healthy Communities and Parks Fund (HCPF), also called the Targeted Equity Grants program, supports projects that increase access to recreation and use of parks, open spaces, and recreational facilities in underserved areas and communities. This grant program intends to reduce health disparities in underserved communities and invest to meet the needs of their residents. Tier 1 offers awards up to $15K in funding and Tier 2 offers awards between $15K and $250K.

6. 2024 Youth & Amateur Sports Grants

Details: King County's Youth and Amateur Sports Grants (YASG) supports fit and healthy communities by investing in programs and capital facility projects that increase access to sports, play, and outdoor recreation. There is a total of $3.5 million in available funding in 2024, with awards up to $250K for construction and $100K for programs.

7. Community Outdoor Athletic Facilities Grant

Details: The Community Outdoor Athletic Facilities (COAF) fund is a program that will provide grants to build, expand, or renovate outdoor athletic facilities. The program is uniquely focused on helping support meaningful athletic experiences in communities that lack recreational opportunities, have underserved populations, and possess limited financial capacity. There is a total of $12 million in available funding and applicants may request grants between $50,000 and $1.2 million.

8. WA Tourism Sports Incentivization Grant

Details: This grant is intended to help nonprofit entities incentivize NEW sports tournaments/competitions that will bring overnight visitors to a destination to spur economic activity. Successful applicants will be able to reserve dollars from a pool to help pay down room nights or provide amenities pending a successful bid. The max grant ask is $30,000.

9. Veteran Outreach & Resource Programs RFP

Details: The Veteran Outreach & Resource Programs Request for Proposals (RFP) seeks to allocate VSHSL funds to qualified agencies to provide outreach and resources to King County veterans, military servicemembers, and their respective families who will benefit from connection to and provision of community resources.

10. Public Free Access Grant

Details: This program aims to reduce the significant barrier that admission fees pose to many King County residents and visitors in accessing quality, relevant, cultural experiences. Grants may be used to support free and reduced cost participation in existing, new, or restarted arts, heritage, or preservation cultural experiences. There is a total of $300,000 in grant funds available in this cycle.

11. Working Connections Child Care

Details: Working Connections Child Care (WCCC) helps eligible families pay for childcare. When a family qualifies for subsidy benefits and chooses a provider, the state pays a portion of the cost of childcare. Parents may be responsible for a copayment to their provider each month. Families experiencing homelessness may be approved for up to 12 months to help resolve issues surrounding homelessness.

12. Emergency and Unforeseen Funds

Details: 4Culture's Emergency and Unforeseen grants meet a wide variety of unexpected facility needs for cultural organizations, and their funds are available for actual costs incurred to repair or renovate cultural spaces.

13. Open 4Culture Funds

Details: Through this grant -- which has no deadline -- 4Culture awards amounts up to $1,500 to cultural doers serving underserved populations across the county. Artists and arts groups operating outside of Seattle and those working in Heritage and Preservation anywhere in King County may apply.

14. Horizons Foundation of Washington Grants

Details: Horizons is a private family foundation whose primary purpose is to address social and environmental concerns in Washington State. They award grants to non-profits in three areas: the environment, social services, and arts and culture. Grants are awarded from as low as $1,000 and up, and grants to applicants in the Arts and Direct Emergency Services categories are typically capped at $5,000.
