Improvements to the pump station building
At the end of January, crews began sandblasting the new pump station building. This is a process done to clean off the walls of the pump station in preparation for future upgrades. Sandblasting is expected to continue through the next month.
Starting as early as February 20, crews will be replacing the roof on the pump station building. This work is expected to take about two weeks.
Neighbors near the area may notice more noise during both these activities.
Trenching, backfilling, and installing underground utilities
Crews began installing the pump station’s new force main on January 24. This included excavating and then backfilling a trench to connect the new pipe.
Starting as early as February 20, crews will begin working on underground electrical and water utilities and backfilling the utility trenches. Neighbors near the area may notice vibrations over the next few weeks during trenching and backfilling activities.
What to expect:
- Approved work hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Friday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday.
- All work will be performed on the North Mercer Island Pump Station property.
