King County Metro seeks an experienced and collaborative professional to join our team as a Labor Negotiator. This is an excellent opportunity to serve as Metro’s spokesperson in negotiating as second chair and administering complex labor contracts, including training and advising on the interpretation and application of the contracts. In addition, this position may provide support in administrative hearings involving unfair labor practices, bargaining unit clarification, union representation proceedings, classification appeals, grievance and interest arbitration hearings. This position also serves as a strategic advisor to management on labor and employment laws, personnel matters, contract administration and participates in briefing senior management and elected officials on labor policies and complex and/or Metro or county-wide labor relations issues.
With over 5,000 employees, 94% of whom are covered by collective bargaining agreements, you will be responsible for coordinating with Metro leadership, the Department of Human Resources, and King County Department of Executive Services Office of Labor Relations in developing and implementing Metro's labor relations goals, policies, and priorities while managing the negotiation process with King County agencies and employee organizations. You will anticipate and plan for long-term labor needs and trends in partnership with King County Metro, the Department of Human Resources, and the Executive Office.
