Happy Lunar New Year!
Tomorrow, Saturday, February 10, many Asian communities will recognize their start of the year following the Lunar calendar. Happy Lunar New Year to all who celebrate! Wishing you peace, happiness and luck in the Year of the Dragon.

This week, the King County Council hosted two community meetings to hear feedback on the the Council’s once-a-decade update to the Comprehensive Plan, including a meeting in Covington. I was glad to be able to connect with so many people from Covington and nearby communities, including Maple Valley! If you were not able to attend, you can still share your thoughts via email at CompPlan@kingcounty.gov.
New interpretive sign at Black Diamond Open Space
Next time you visit Black Diamond Open Space, look for a new interpretive sign along the Ravensdale Creek “log bridge” that shares about the Lake Sawyer Mill Company’s historical logging operation, which once used a logging road that crossed Ravensdale Creek at the site of the new bridge.
Thank you to Black Diamond resident and historian Bill Kombol for working with my office to help make this interpretive sign happen so more people can learn about the rich history of Black Diamond!
